What brings us together

Aerobatics

The precision and beauty of aerobatic flying.

Vintage airplanes

Historic aircraft and the people who keep them flying.

Meetings and air shows

Visits, meetings and shared days at the airfield.

Community

Pilots, engineers and enthusiasts sharing their passion.

The club

We host social events throughout the year, as well as the formal local, national and world championship competitions.

Our membership consists of professionals and amateurs: aerobatic pilots and enthusiasts, from the volunteers who come and judge the flying to the World Championship competitors who show the highest skill in the sport.

Why do aerobatics? Aerobatics is about safety and recovery training. It is about being able to fly confidently and safely in all corners of the aircraft envelope, and about the sheer joy this kind of flying brings. It raises a pilot's confidence and lowers fear, and all of this enhances flight safety. One does not need to compete to feel these effects.

Pilots of today: from generation to generation

Many of us came to the sky as our fathers and mothers did. This page will give a voice to pilots of today: their first flight, their path, their stories.

Dr. Alex Konviser

My mother was a pilot and a teacher of higher mathematics. Today I fly in her leather flying helmet from 1931. I am 69 and I still fly. The sky draws you in and never lets go.

Dr. Alex Konviser

Look behind my arm, on the left of the picture: at that moment the ground crew is moving the aircraft into the hangar to keep them safe. We are keepers of history: of flight, of information and of people.

Airmanship that saves lives

When nothing works any more, what remains is skill, calm and the people on the ground who wait for their aircraft. Three landings that every pilot remembers.

Gimli, Canada, 1983

Air Canada Flight 143, a Boeing 767, ran out of fuel at altitude: both engines stopped and most instruments went dark. Captain Robert Pearson, an experienced glider pilot, brought it down in silence to the former air base at Gimli, which First Officer Maurice Quintal remembered from his service. A car race was under way on the old runway. All 69 people on board survived.

Izhma, Russia, 2010

An Alrosa Tu-154 lost all electrical power: no navigation, no fuel pumps. Commander Yevgeny Novoselov and co-pilot Andrei Lamanov landed it on the strip of an airfield closed for years, which Sergei Sotnikov had kept clear on his own for twelve years. All 81 people on board survived.

Hudson River, USA, 2009

US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320, lost both engines to a flock of geese after take-off from New York. Captain Chesley Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles ditched on the Hudson River. All 155 people on board survived.

The ground crew always waits for its aircraft. I wait for mine, too. That is why I build airfields, main and alternate, for the generations to come.

Scalea: reviving small aviation

We are in Orsomarso, near Scalea in Calabria, where we are working to bring small aviation back to the Scalea airfield, closed for a long time. Talks with the municipality are under way, and we are moving forward step by step.

The future belongs to small aviation. We do not forget the big machines, but everything in life begins with something small: the first flight, the first step, the first beat of the wings, the first lesson. The first hardships and disappointments, too. Through them humanity goes, through hardship to the stars.

Scalea and Davos: first steps towards an air link

The Natural Sport Foundation has started work on a plan for an air link between Scalea in Calabria and Davos in Graubünden. It is part of our friendship bridge between the two towns: mountains and sea, the Alps and the Tyrrhenian coast. The technical and professional side is led by the Swiss Aerobatics International Club (https://aerobatix.club): it brings together a community of general aviation pilots, with light and medium aircraft, to prepare operating and air traffic procedures in line with ICAO standards, so that light aircraft can fly to Scalea next year. The Natural Sport Foundation helps build the infrastructure and bring visitors. We plan a flight school, a hangar and a small hotel at the airfield and nearby, with the opening planned for the first quarter of 2027.

We are now the Swiss Aerobatics International Club

The club has grown beyond Switzerland: pilots and friends in many countries fly with us. Our new site tells their stories, from the first flight to the World Championships, and the story of small aviation returning to Scalea in Calabria.
